This male mute swan managed to get its wing stuck through three bars of a metal farm gate in Newtyle, Perthshire. Our rescue team managed to carefully free the bird and took it to be examined by our vets who declared it fit to be released back onto the local pond where his mate was waiting for his return.
This female (doe) Roe Deer was rescued from the water at Monifieth beach after managing to swim ashore against an out going tide. The deer is seen in our intensive care crate, the red glow is from the heat lamp which is used to warm the animal. We are happy to report that the deer made a full recovery and was released into Tentsmuir forest where we believe it came from.
We received a call from Tayside Police control asking us to respond to an injured bird of prey in a Dundee housing estate. Upon arrival we found this female Sparrowhawk lying on the ground by a glass bus shelter. The bird was suffering from concussion and after being seen by our veterinary was transported to our immediate aid facility at Dundee where it was treated for shock and was kept over night for observation then transfered to Hessilhead Wildlife Hospital where if it makes a full recovery it will be brought back to Dundee for release back into the wild.

UPDATE: After rehabilitation this Sparrowhawk made a full recovery and was released back into the wild.
Another Herring Gull arrived today.  We receive numerous calls about gulls, some which have fallen from the nest, others having been hit by vehicles. All casualties which arrive at our care unit receive a full examination in order to determine what injuries they may have.
What a place to build your nest!! This breeding pair of mute swans decided that the slipway on the river Tay at the old Newport ferry pier, which is now owned and operated by David Andersons Marine was a safe and secure place to hatch their eggs. As you can see its a busy slipway but luckily Dave has enough room on both slipways that he will ensure the disturbance be kept to a minimum.
This Grey Heron was recovered from Wellbank by Dundee after being attacked by a group of thugs who thought it would be 'good fun' to stone the poor animal. Upon examination by our vet it was clear that this was'nt a healthy bird in the first place and that's probably why it could not escape its attackers. Sadly the bird was put to sleep. UPDATE: We are happy to report that after investigations by Tayside Police an eight year old youth was interviewed by police and both he and his parents received a senior officers warning for his actions.
This feral pigeon was recovered from a garage in Arbroath. As you can see the poor bird was covered in dirty deisel oil. We administered some BCK (charcoal) in order to absorb any oil which might have been ingested and then we gave the bird a first wash to remove the worst of the oil.
A VERY sick Fox Cub in our intensive care unit after being recovered from Carnoustie Angus. The poor thing was found in the road and we assume that it had been clipped by a vehicle. We are happy to inform you that after some intensive nursing by our volunteer Steven Cochrane this fox cub nick named 'Sly' made a full recovery and was released into a safe site in Angus. See the picture of the release on our 'Contact Details' page.
This orphaned baby red squirrel was found by a walker on a bridle way in Scone Perthshire. The walker returned later to find that the animal's condition had deteriorated and called us for assistance. We are happy to report that after some fluid therapy and heat the little one is eating some baby food and suckling milk.
